現代英語学科FD活動（特別公開講座）開催
2022年7月14日、現代英語学科と地域・国際交流センターとの共催により、今年度前期FD活動として、セルギー・コルスンスキー駐日ウクライナ特命全権大使による特別公開講座を開催いたしました。
このような機会を持てたことを、関係者一同大変光栄に思っています。
On July 14 2022, the Department of Contemporary English in conjunction with The Center for Glocal Communication was extremely honored to hold a special open lecture by Sergiy Korsunsky, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Japan as one of our Faculty Development events this year.
「新時代におけるウクライナと日本：社会文化的側面から考える」
講演会当日においては、本学園キアラ館礼拝堂にて、教職員、学生、メディア関係者など約80名の聴衆を前に、コルスンスキー氏による講演「新時代におけるウクライナと日本：社会文化的側面から考える」が行われました。可能な限り多くの方々に講演を聞いていただくため、ライブ映像もオンラインで配信されました。
大使はウクライナにおける壊滅的な戦争状況と、それが祖国の国民、文化、そして未来に及ぼしている影響に焦点を当てて力強く語られました。
To ensure that as many people could attend as possible, the event was held both in person in the Kiara Chapel at Ibaraki Christian as well as over a live online feed.
In the Kiara Chapel，in front of an audience of around eighty faculty, students, staff, and members of the media, Dr. Korsunsky’s lecture, “Ukraine and Japan in a new era of Global Transformation: The Sociocultural Aspect” focused on the state of the devastating war in Ukraine and how it is affecting the people, the culture and the future of the country.
大使はウクライナにおける壊滅的な戦争状況と、それが祖国の国民、文化、そして未来に及ぼしている影響に焦点を当てて力強く語られました。

講演はウクライナ語で行われ、大使の母国語への愛着がうかがえました。大使の言葉はユリヤ・ザモルスカ２等書記官によって日本語に逐次通訳され、専門家による通訳をリアルタイムで聞くという、貴重な経験ができました。
In an expression of the importance of his love of his native language，he gave the lecture in Ukrainian. It was then expertly interpreted by Ms. Yuliya Zamorska into Japanese bringing rare insight to the art of live interpretation.

大使は、ロシアによる民主主義に対する戦いに、ウクライナは何としても勝利しなければならないと情熱的に語りました。
また、講演会終了後、大使は今回の講演料を、本学のウクライナからの留学生のために役立てて欲しいと、上野尚美学長に寄付されました。
Dr. Korsunsky’s passion was evident as he discussed the need to win the war against democracy at all costs.
After the lecture, he generously donated his lecture fee to University President Naomi Ueno in order to help our current and future Ukrainian exchange students.

I received the lecture via live-streaming, and I am very glad that I was able to listen to your talk even under such circumstances. It made me think more deeply about what role each of us should play to make the world a peaceful place, instead of thinking of it as someone else's business.

It was a wonderful lecture. I was especially moved by his frankness about what the Ukrainian nation and people consider to be the most important issues of the current invasion of Russia, and how they view history.
