我々の日常生活 はメディアに包囲されています。認識の有無にかかわらずだれでもメ ディアの消費者になっています。この溢れかえるメディアは、娯楽をはじめとし、責 任感をもった市民になるためにも、さまざま影響をおよぼしているものと言えるでしょ う。情報化社会に深く関わるメディアがどのように普及されていくかを理解するだけ でなく、その背景、それをどう解釈すべきかなど様々な方面からの技能が要求されま す。Understanding Mediaは、その出発点となります。その他のメディアの授業は、 メディアの消化だけにとどまらず、メディア作製も紹介していきます。

Media surrounds us everywhere. We are all media consumers both consciously and unconsciously. Media affects our lives in many different ways, from entertaining us to helping us be informed citizens. To be full members of our information society, we need to understand how that information is disseminated and how to interpret it. Understanding Media helps students to begin this process. Our other media classes help students to learn not only how to digest media, but to produce it, as well.
